ABOUT ME

Clarity and Confidence
Vision and Voice
Influence and Impact

You can have it all.

I help women in nonprofit to restore their confidence and grow their impact, so they feel seen, heard, and valued as leaders.

IT BEGAN WITH AN INTRIGUING PHONE CALL.

My Story

A good friend was proposing we start a nonprofit around an educational initiative we both cared deeply about.

For a number of years, I'd been coaching women leaders in a variety of professions, including law, medicine, education, art, and the nonprofit sector.

Many of my favorite clients to work with were women nonprofit leaders--passionate about their mission, purpose-driven by nature, highly empathetic, and committed to make a difference in the world.

As my friend and I mapped out the idea, I became more and more excited about its potential. Caught up in the vision of all that was possible, I wasn't considering or even aware of just how many challenges lay ahead....
Over time, I had grown keenly aware, not only of issues women nonprofit leaders and executive directors faced, but also that they routinely experienced some uniquely challenging ones.

So when my friend shared his idea of starting a nonprofit, it felt like familiar ground. I was sure my experience serving on nonprofit boards, along with having coached a number of nonprofit leaders over the years, gave me enough insight into the issues and challenges that likely lay ahead.
Fast-forward three years, and I had learned just how much I hadn't known at the outset. Working in the shoes of an executive director of a small nonprofit, particularly as the only woman in the organization, made me look at women in the nonprofit sector through a new lens.

Ten years later, I have learned many lessons, but here are the top three:

1.

Leadership confidence is a different brand of confidence.

You may have experience, or even be an expert in your field, but that doesn't always translate to your role as a leader. Finding your voice is a process and, for most, requires a new set of skills and awareness.

2.

Imposter syndrome is a sign of good things to come.

That is, if you confront it. When you find yourself questioning whether you're up to the task, that's a good thing. It may feel like a dark abyss, but you can get out of it smoothly with the right support system.

3.

Communication can make or break your leadership style.

Regardless of the dynamics on your board or within your organization, many of us as women have old patterns to break. Spotting the pitfalls and establishing a conscious daily practice of new communication habits is necessary if we want to be seen, heard, and taken seriously as leaders.

"I think my greatest accomplishment is the fact that I finally found my sense of self. I feel so secure and self-assured now, and my budding growth mindset is so useful in maintaining that in every aspect of my daily life: work, personal relationships, even how I approach and plan out my day.

Elizabeth’s coaching was the foundation of my progress. It gave me the opportunity, the platform and the space to look at myself in a way I had never thought (or even known) to look before. The support and encouragement I received from Elizabeth were paramount when I was facing questions about my needs and values, my mindset, my version of success, and a few others, because it bolstered my belief in my ability and desire to know the answers.

I feel empowered by my ever-growing self-awareness, and through that I have been able to answer questions about myself and my future that were previously too daunting to even ask. I also feel immensely satisfied with my situation in life. Every week my eyes were opened to new things, which made me eager to engage, which led to positive steps towards achieving my goals."
